The Solar Wall transforms solar energy into hot air which is fed to the central HVAC system. The HVAC system uses a heat-pump to utilize the solar wall energy to both cool down and heat up the building. The EnergyMatching Tool, developed by EURAC, supported the preliminary design of the PV system in the multifamily dwelling unit of Campi Bisenzio. Indicating position and capacity of the PV modules, and also capacity of the electric storage, the tool suggested the optimal solution according to the specificities of the building (geometry and energy demand), the technologies (costs and technical features) and the context (irradiation conditions and electricity cost). The tool provided a set of indicators, as an insight on the PV system expected performance.
